After Burial
Containers of cut flowers that are part of the floral designs at the time of the funeral may be left on the grave for a few days.
Between six and nine months need to elapse before the earth in a new grave has compacted sufficiently to permit sodding or seeding. During this period, Mt. Carmel’s maintenance crew will refill settlement. All graves are seeded or sodded in the early spring or fall except for those burials that have taken place in the last six to nine months. However, one or more graves may occasionally be overlooked. If you find that we have neglected to fill, sod or seed a grave on your lot, please notify the cemetery and we will correct the oversight promptly.
All Foundations for memorials must be installed by Mt. Carmel regardless of where they were purchased. This is to prevent a sub-standard foundation from being installed resulting in the monument leaning and possibly falling over.
Mt. Carmel sells monuments, markers, vases, and columbarium’s. The staff of our Monument Department will be glad to assist you with your memorial needs. All profits from the sale of these monuments help to maintain our beautiful cemetery.
